Margaret Baumann, MD

Dr. Baumann is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and the Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics and Extended Care of the affiliated Hines Veterans Administration Medical Center.
As a Brookdale National Fellow, Dr. Baumann studied the physiology of bladder cells, and the relationship between the function of the bladder in vivo, and cells from those bladders in vitro, in elderly patients with urinary incontinence. This has developed into projects in muscle physiology in animal models, as well as work on tools for clinical use for patients with incontinence in nursing homes and in-home care.
Dr. Baumann graduated from Creighton University Medical School in 1982 and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She received fellowship training and was on the faculty at Harvard Medical School’s Division on Aging before returning to the University of Illinois in 1990. She moved to Loyola-Hines in the fall of 1997.
