Carol Pilbeam, PhD, MD

Dr. Pilbeam is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center (UCHC). She has been carrying out studies in the field of osteoporosis and bone metabolism since 1987. She has mentored investigators in both laboratory and clinical studies and is on three graduate faculties involved in training PhD students. Her current studies include an analysis of the regulation and role of the inducible cyclooxgenase, the rate limiting enzyme in prostaglandin production, in bone metabolism. She has been the Director of the Research and Development Core of the Pepper Center at UCHC and is the PI of two NIH grants to study bone metabolism.
