Dr. Sachs has received the Outstanding Scientific Achievement for Clinical Investigation Award from the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) and was a Medical Honoree of the national Alzheimer’s Association. He has taken on leadership roles in several organizations, which include serving on the National Board of Directors of AGS and the editorial board of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.

In 2009, Dr. Sachs was elected to Fellowship status in the American College of Physicians and was selected to serve on both the Academic Palliative Medicine Task Force for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHMP) and a leadership summit between AGS and AAHPM.
