Dr.
Lingler is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Health & Community
Systems and Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Nursing and
Medicine. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University and holds MA
(Bioethics), MSN, and PhD (Nursing) degrees from the University of Pittsburgh,
where she recently completed postdoctoral training in Geriatric Psychiatry
(T32MH19986). Dr. Lingler has previously been funded through the John A.
Hartford Foundation Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity Program, and
she is currently a recipient of a New Investigator Research Grant from the
Alzheimer’s Association. Her research focuses on the psychosocial implications
of late life cognitive disorders. As a Brookdale Leadership in Aging Fellow, she
will develop an intervention to improve family caregivers’ abilities to
effectively mediate communication between patients with Alzheimer’s disease and
their healthcare providers. Findings from this research will inform a larger
scale, randomized controlled trial of the intervention to measure its effect on
patient care outcomes.
